On March 20, local time, the 144th Plenary Session of the International Olympic Committee being held in Greece decided to include boxing as an official sport for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. In June 2023, the IOC decided to officially withdraw recognition of the International Boxing Federation. Since then, since there has been no new governing body for boxing, the IOC has not listed it as an event for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics for the time being. In February of this year, the IOC Executive Committee decided to temporarily recognize the World Boxing Federation as an international individual sport organization responsible for boxing in the Olympic Games, and proposed the inclusion of boxing in the Los Angeles Olympics at the March 17 Executive Committee meeting.
