The Zhitong Finance App learned that on February 28, the National Energy Administration held a video conference on the National Renewable Energy Power Development and Construction Month (February) scheduling. The conference pointed out that 2025 is the end year of the “14th Five-Year Plan” and a key year for planning the “15th Five-Year Plan”. Renewable energy development plans face more opportunities, more space, higher requirements and more challenges. In 2025, we should focus on “two hard tasks, two high quality”. The two “hard tasks” are to step up efforts to promote the construction of the “Shagahuang” new energy base and push the base project to be completed and put into operation on schedule; the second is to complete the “14th Five-Year Plan” without compromise. In particular, the projects included in the country's 102 major projects must complete the tasks as scheduled. At the same time, it is necessary to prepare the “15th Five-Year Plan” renewable energy development plan to provide a basis for the “15th Five-Year Plan” development.

The two “high quality” are to carry out research and implementation of important policy documents with high quality to guide the sustainable and healthy development of the industry; second, to do a good job in the consumption of new energy with high quality, we must respond positively and adopt multiple measures to ensure that the consumption and utilization rate of wind power and photovoltaic power generation across the country remains at a reasonable level.

The National Energy Administration organized the National Renewable Energy Electricity Development and Construction Monthly (February) Dispatch Meeting

On February 28, the National Energy Administration held the National Renewable Energy Power Development and Construction Month (February) scheduling video conference. Wan Jinsong, member of the party group and deputy director of the National Energy Administration, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.

The conference summarized the overall situation of renewable energy development in 2024, listened to the implementation of opinions and suggestions put forward at the last monthly dispatch meeting, the progress of construction of major renewable energy projects in the country, the supply, demand and development of the wind power and photovoltaic industry chain, analyzed the situation and problems facing renewable energy development, and deployed key tasks for 2025.

The conference pointed out that in 2024, China's renewable energy maintained a good trend of rapid development, high utilization, and high-quality consumption, and played an important role in guaranteeing electricity supply and promoting energy transformation. By the end of 2024, the installed capacity of renewable energy power generation in China reached 1,889 billion kilowatts, an increase of 24.6% over the previous year, accounting for more than half of the installed capacity for two consecutive years; the total installed capacity of wind power and photovoltaics reached 1,406 billion kilowatts, surpassing the installed capacity of coal power for the first time. Renewable energy added 373 million kilowatts in 2024, an increase of 23% over the previous year, accounting for about 86% of the new electricity installations; new renewable energy installations have exceeded 300 million kilowatts for two consecutive years, accounting for more than 50% of the world's new installed capacity. The country's renewable energy generation reached 3.47 trillion kilowatt-hours, accounting for about 35% of the total power generation. The average utilization rate of renewable energy in the country remains above 95%. Distributed new energy sources have become a new development force, and distributed photovoltaics accounts for more than 40% of all photovoltaic power generation.

The conference concluded that in 2024, thanks to the joint efforts of the entire industry and various sectors, the first batch of large-scale wind power photovoltaic bases will be basically completed and put into operation, a number of important policies and systems such as pumped energy storage, distributed photovoltaics, green certification and green power, etc., approved major hydropower projects such as Yaxia, the “Thousands of Households” campaign, the “Thousand Villages” campaign, and the rural energy revolution, and a number of projects benefiting people and agriculture will be actively promoted.

The conference pointed out that 2025 is the end year of the “14th Five-Year Plan” and a key year for planning the “15th Five-Year Plan”.
