Avoiding Scams

Scams can threaten your financial security and personal information. Staying informed about common scams and their warning signs helps you protect yourself and your assets. Always verify requests for sensitive information and check with reliable sources before taking action to prevent falling victim to fraud.

What are common social engineering scams?

Phishing

Phishing is a deceptive practice where emails or messages, seemingly from reputable companies, trick individuals into disclosing personal information like passwords, Social Security numbers, or bank details. Phishing scams often involve fake websites that closely resemble legitimate ones.

Security Tips:

  • Avoid clicking on links from unsolicited sources. Always verify the sender's email address and look for spelling or grammar errors.
  • Instead of clicking on email links, directly log into the Webull app or visit Webull.com.
  • Be wary of fake prizes or promotions. Confirm legitimate Webull promotions by checking the Promotion Center in the Webull app by navigating to Menu ➝ Promotion Center.

Vishing

Vishing involves fraudulent phone calls or voice messages pretending to be from reputable companies to extract personal information like bank details or credit card numbers.

Security Tips:

  • Only answer calls from numbers you recognize. If unsure, hang up and verify the contact information on Webull.com or within the app.
  • Be cautious when sharing personal information over the phone.
  • Confirm the caller's identity and legitimacy before providing any information.

Smishing

Smishing involves sending fraudulent text messages that appear to be from reputable companies to trick individuals into revealing personal information, such as passwords or verification codes.

Security Tips:

  • Never click on links from unsolicited text messages.
  • Watch for spelling and grammar errors.
  • Do not respond to text messages requesting information; Webull will never ask for responses via text.

Social media scams

Social media scams involve fraudsters using fake profiles or hacking verified accounts to spread malicious links, fake promotions, or false investment opportunities. Webull’s official social media pages will never initiate contact with you.

Security Tips:

  • Avoid clicking on suspicious links or providing critical information through social media.
  • Look for spelling and grammar errors in posts or handles.
  • Do not respond to unsolicited messages about investment opportunities or promotions.
  • Never correspond with unaffiliated social media accounts claiming to represent Webull. Refer to Webull's verified social media handles only.

What should I do if I shared my account credentials?

If you have shared your Webull account credentials, used the same password for another online account, or are concerned about your account’s security:

  • Review and remove any devices you don’t recognize or no longer use from your account.
  • Change your password immediately. Use a strong, unique password that you don’t use for any other service or share with anyone.
  • Enable Two-Factor Authentication to add an extra layer of security. Never share your verification code with anyone.

If you suspect unauthorized activity on your Webull account, immediately contact us by calling +1 (888) 828-0618 or emailing support@webull.com.
